In this section, we will be discussing two drugs that are used to treat hair loss.

Finasteride is a type of drug that is used to treat male pattern baldness. It has been approved by the FDA in 1997 and it comes in the form of a tablet. It works by stopping the conversion of testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT leads to hair loss.

Minoxidil is also a type of drug that is used to treat hair loss. It comes in two forms: topical and oral. Minoxidil topical solution can be applied directly on the scalp while minoxidil oral solution needs to be swallowed with water or food. It works by widening blood vessels in the scalp which can help increase blood flow and promote hair growth.

There are a few other hair loss treatments that can be pursued if the first ones do not work. These are:

– Hair transplantation
– Platelet-rich plasma therapy
– Low-level laser therapy
– PRP injections
– Hair surgery
